Top seed Ash Barty has won through to the fourth round at Wimbledon for the second time after beating Katerina Siniakova in straight sets.

The Australian overcame a second-set fightback to beat the Czech player 6-3, 7-5, in the third round on Centre Court.

The 25-year will now face French Open champion Barbora Krejcikova on Monday, a match up she called “an incredible challenge”.

Barty won the French Open in 2019, the same year she last reached the fourth round at Wimbledon.

Against Siniakova, Barty made a fast start to the match, winning the first seven points.

But she was made to battle hard for her victory against the world number 64 who was runner-up on grass at Bad Homburg last week.

Barty served for the match at 5-4 in the second set, but Siniakova saved a match point before breaking back to raise prospects of a third set.

But Barty held her nerve, breaking in Siniakova’s next service gave before closing out the match in one hour and 37 minutes.

“Katerina brought an incredible level [so] I knew I had to play very near my best to be able to compete with her today so I’m happy to be able to play some good stuff.

“I’m very privileged to be in the second week of Wimbledon and it’ll be another great challenge.”

In the fourth round of Wimbledon in 2019, Barty suffered a shock three-set loss to American Alison Riske.
