Serena Williams has pulled out of the US Open beginning next week at Flushing Meadows, saying her torn hamstring has not completely healed ahead of the final major of the year.
The six-time US Open singles champion said she made the decision based on medical advice.
“After careful consideration and following the advice of my doctors and medical team, I have decided to withdraw from the US Open to allow my body to heal completely from a torn hamstring,” Williams wrote in a statement on Instagram.
More to come.
