Netflix has unveiled a trailer for a new Michael Schumacher documentary, 30 years after the German champion debuted in Formula One.

Titled Schumacher, the film will be released on September 15 and features previously unseen home videos and interviews with family and friends.

Schumacher has been out of the public eye since suffering a near-fatal brain injury while skiing in the French Alps in 2013.

“He still shows me how strong he is every day,” wife Corrina said in the trailer.

“I just felt that he is somebody special.

“I think that he is simply very strong mentally. Extremely strong.”

Schumacher’s son, Mick, who currently races for F1 team Haas, also features in the trailer, alongside Michael’s daughter Gina, his brother and fellow F1 driver Ralf, and four-time F1 champion Sebastian Vettel.

In 2019, the Schumacher family released a statement saying they were doing “everything humanly possible” to help the F1 champion recover from his accident, including stem cell operations.

“You can be sure that he is in the very best of hands and that we are doing everything humanly possible to help him,” the statement said.

“Please understand if we are following Michael’s wishes and keeping such a sensitive subject as health, as it has always been, in privacy.”
