Opals win thrilling final group game to sneak in to quarter finals, as it happened


What’s happening tomorrow/today

Right, we’ve ticked over midnight so I should probably give you some pointers as to what’s happening later on today on day 11 of the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Tuesday is another big day in track and field, with Australian middle distance star Stewart McSweyn making his first appearance of the Games in the men’s 1,500 metres – his heat is at 10:27am AEST.

Australia’s Brooke Stratton is in the women’s long jump final at 11:50am AEST and Kurtis Marschall is in the men’s pole vault final at 8:20pm.

There will also be finals in the men’s 400m hurdles, women’s hammer throw, women’s 800m and women’s 200m.

The Boomers are playing for a chance to reach the final four against Argentina at 10:00pm AEST, and the Kookaburras are hoping to book a place in the gold medal match when they meet Germany at 8:00pm AEST.

Mariafe Artacho del Solar and Taliqua Clancy will take on the Candaian pair in the final eight of the beach volleyball at 11:00pm AEST.

The Stingers will play the ROC in the women’s water polo at 8:50pm AEST, plus Harry Garside will appear in the quarter finals of the boxing from 7:35pm AEST.

There’s more track cycling in the evening from 4:30pm AEST and there will be sailing throughout the day, weather permitting.

We’ve also got sport climbing to look forward to – that should be fun.
